Suz Reid – Columnist

Suz Reid lives in a new build home in East Lothian where she grows fruit and veg in her back garden with her husband and two young children. Their garden is what you would typically expect from a new build: poor soil compacted with rubble and rubbish! And yet, it is wonderfully productive!

In her column for Scotland Grows magazine, Suz picks her favourite veg to grow and harvest for the seasons and give you her top tips for success! You can follow her on Instagram for more chat on how she manages it all, with the help of two young children!

“Despite the veg patch being modest (around 4m x 5m), we find it to be incredibly productive. So far this year, we’ve grown or are growing: potatoes, leeks, shallots, garlic, carrots, spring onions, tomatoes, peppers, peas, sugar snap peas, mangetout, spinach, lettuce, radish, beetroot, kale, turnip, swede, broccoli, chives, blueberries, apples, raspberries, strawberries, courgettes, French beans, calendula, mint, sage, basil, thyme, rosemary, bay, and lots of rhubarb!”
